To mark the grand opening of Primalux Institute of Music and Technology we are offering a Primalux Summer Surge Camp over summer break!
Have you ever wanted to see how a song is produced in the studio and released to the world?
Join music industry veteran Darryl Neudorf in the studio for five days at 4 hrs / day. We’ll embark on a sonic journey where we create a song from scratch and record, mix, master and upload it to a streaming distributor all in one 20 hour week!
We start with nothing on Monday and by Friday we will be uploading our creation to the world!
Composition Phase – Writing a song – Introductions and overview. We will then embark on the journey of writing a song together using the latest tools in Logic Pro.
Tuesday
Composition —> Production Phase – Shift from the composition phase to the production phase. Once the core song structure is more refined we can start to add the elements as the shift from song to recording takes place.
Wednesday
Production Phase – All the elements of the recording will be completed today, whether it be virtual instruments and performances, and / or actual instruments and performances.
Thursday
Mixing Phase – We bring all the elements together to complete a finished recorded work.
Friday
Mastering and Final Release – On the final day, we master the finished mix to prepare it for the various formats. Then we upload the finished work to the streaming services.
Summer Song Surge is taught by veteran music producer Darryl Neudorf in his new 7.1.4 Dolby ATMOS studio in Kelowna. Darryl has produced and engineered countless records over the last 30 years, some of which have achieved Gold and Platinum status. Darryl has received 2 Grammy nominations, a Juno Nomination for Engineer of the Year and was inducted into the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Click here to learn more.
This camp is for anyone ages 13 – 15 or 16 – 18 who loves music. It certainly helps if you can play an instrument, but some of the world’s most renowned Producers don’t play an instrument.
We will start things off on Monday signing an agreement with each other that states that we all share songwriting and recording ownership splits equally. We are all in this week long journey together!
Classes are taught at Primalux Studio, a brand new 7.1.4 Dolby ATMOS recording / mixing studio located near Kinsmen Park in South Central Kelowna. Click here to see the studio
Lessons are taught in an Apple environment using Logic Pro X as the primary DAW. Recording will be done using a variety of outboard pre-amps and microphones going into a UAD Apollo 16.
